Le Tour de France: Stage 2

Thousands of people came from all over the country to watch this leg of the race in Worrall, some even pitched prime spots from six in the morning! The atmosphere was amazing with a real party and community feel. The crescendo of the crowds built until it erupted a huge applause as the first riders came through.

The Grand Unveiling

What a fantastic day! Nick Clegg arrived to unveil 'Up-Cycle' along with local residents, supporters and sponsors. Both of us feel really proud to have designed, developed and delivered this wonderful project with so many local residents taking part and having a joint ownership of the artwork. Thanks to everyone, we couldn't have done it without you.

Installation: Awesome

MKM building supplies along with Jewel Construction have collaborated in getting the groundworks ready, H. Askey Haulage have agreed to move the sculpture from Worrall Memorial Hall to the site, very exciting.  Installations was a very smooth operation.  It was lovely, crowds of local people watching in and a big cheer when the final nut was tightened! We even got some guys from York wanting a photo next to the artwork, first of many maybe?

Workshop 3: finished

Site inspected complete, phew, and planning permission granted, phew phew! we are good to go!!
Yet another glorious day and a great turn out to finish the piece:

Workshop 2: nearly there

The weather was fantastic and so many people have taken part so far, but the great thing is we have people meeting one another, chatting, making new relationships, getting creative and drinking tea! These Gripple fixings are amazing, anyone can use them, so easy and we have more than enough to create a rigid artwork, no welding involved:
